Spotify is getting more artist-friendly every day – which is a great thing for you.\u00a0And of course their playlists are a key way of getting your music discovered and every artist is searching for ways to get onto these highly desired playlists.<\/p>\n

How to Submit Y<\/b>our Music Directly to Spotify<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

Simply sign into your artist account (or Spotify Analytics if you are a label) and choose your best song. When submitting, take extra care to give a detailed description of the song supplying any and all relevant information about the song to easily guide editors to the best for place your music.<\/span><\/p>\n

What to Include in\u00a0<\/b>Your Description<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

When you Submit to Spotify you music include Genre, mood, and instrumentation. You should also add whether it\u2019s a cover, and the sub genres to cultures you or the song belong to.<\/span><\/p>\n

This new “Submit to Spotify” feature will also impact Spotify\u2019s personalized playlists. This means that as long as you submit your track for playlist consideration <\/span>7 Days in advance<\/b> it will automatically appear in every one of your followers\u2019 Release Radar playlists (thereby possibly giving the algorithm a jolt) \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This way you have control over which single you\u2019re promoting to your fans and to the playlists at the same time.<\/span><\/p>\n

As Spotify wishes to make this process as fair and unbiased as possible they have released this statement:<\/span><\/p>\n

We want to make something crystal clear: no one can pay to be added to one of Spotify\u2019s editorial playlists. Our editors pick tracks with listeners in mind. They make these decisions using data about what\u2019s resonating most with their community of listeners.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

This is What Spotify Has To Say:<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n

Everyone, whether you\u2019re an artist, label, manager or part of an artist\u2019s team, can try out this feature. Simply log into your\u00a0Spotify for Artists<\/b><\/u><\/a><\/span>\u00a0account or, if you work at a label, head over to\u00a0Spotify Analytics<\/b><\/u><\/a><\/span>. There, you\u2019ll have the option of selecting one unreleased song for playlist consideration and submitting it to our team.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s important to give us as much information about the track as possible. The data you share will be complemented by what we already know about you. What else your fans listen to? What other playlists you\u2019ve appeared on, etc.<\/p>\n

Spotify Canvases<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Spotify Canvases are short 6 to 8 second clips that show up on the mobile side of the app when you click a song. The idea is to draw listeners in. According to Spotify:<\/p>\n

“When listeners see a Canvas, they are more likely to keep streaming (+5% on average vs. control group), share the track (+145%), add to their playlists (+20%), save the track (+1.4%), and visit your profile page (+9%).”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Spotify Clips<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Spotify Clips are the newest feature that artists can utilize on Spotify. Clips are short, 30 second or less videos that work as a way to invite your fans into your creative process all while keeping your music front and center. Spotify has built Clips to inspire fandoms.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, this feature is not yet released to independent musicians as it’s still in the beta phase. You can read more about Spotify Clips here<\/a><\/span><\/strong> and join the waitlist for Clips to be the first to use the feature when it becomes available.<\/p>\n
